I think a lot of people just don't get how much of classical music was foundational for pop music. McCartney said blackbird was a twist on some Bach intro. Billy Joel said similar things. A lot of of good music was cooked in classical knowledge.

Always fun to see this pop up years later. (Damn, 20 years now)

That's an important point. It's the core of your life, thinking, balancing, exploring, improving. I don't believe adjusting something large you didn't do will ever benefit people.

There's the mice utopia experiment too. I often hear that in space your bones dégradé, your biology needs weight as input.

Also I believe our socialness was crafted out of the need for survival. If removed it's all gonna run wild since nobody needs anybody, and it might end up as doom scrolling but for human relationship. Short bursts from time to time and that's it

Really glad you brought up the mice utopia experiments. I encourage people to read about them and think how they apply to humans.

In many ways they don't apply to humans, and I think a lot of the modern critiques are valid, and the overpopulation concerns in particular don't map well to the modern world. Still, I believe it helps to think deeply about what happens to societies when innate drives and motivations have "nowhere to go".

It's the inverse. We created a world for introverts only in the last ~50 years, where people can spend all their time in an office desk not actually talking to anyone. This was never the case in any of human evolution before.

It's only going back. Raw urban human connections will be the only thing left to exercise.

I love their videos (came to suggest them actually). That said today's devices are more SMD and microsoldering.. but the metallurgy/chemistry/technical knowledge in PACE videos is helpful nonetheless.

still hugged

Management still pushes for more ai and will rather hire more heads to "handle" issues.

Hiring? Seems to me that market’s rough right now and AI is being used for cost cutting.

I know but in our case they really did put out a few job ads. The market is full of different small contexts where things are a bit flipped.

I’m glad to hear it truly

Yeah I guess the job market will not disappear as fast as I could believe when Claude code came out. Maybe people can enjoy a few more years of work.

Yeah I was a sense that some people would be more into serious technical explorations and not just distanced review of the past (even though it can bring some knowledge).

is there a fedora 44 ws with non free package built in ?

You still have to use rpmfusion, which isn’t a huge deal. It’s maybe 5 min one time and then you are set.

Or you could use one of the Universal Blue spins. Bluefin and Aurora have non-free stuff built in and you can install pretty much any package from anywhere.

oh thanks a ton

The web changed too, early 2000s was a balanced between real world, old media and web trying to exist, then it swallowed more, and many old things had to migrate or imitate. Now the world is all streamed, always on..
